When Mallika Sherawat was in Chennai to shot for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Guru’, she called Kamal Haasan to play any role in his film. Kamal was pleasantly surprised by her enthusiasm. “She called to take an appointment. Initially, I begged off saying I was writing my film and didn’t go to office nowadays. She floored me by replying, ‘Just give me five minutes anywhere.’ We met and I found her clued-in and very relaxed,” offers Kamal. Mallika’s is cast as a character who helps one of antagonists in his new Tamil film ‘Dasavatharam’.

You have six big films lined up for release this year. There’s Love Story 2050, God Tussi Great Ho, Drona, Fashion, Dostana and Kurbani. So does the future look bright?

See, I’m an optimist. The future always looks bright regardless of whether or not I have movies coming up for release. But yes, I’m excited about my forthcoming movies. And I hope that each one does well. I’ve been slogging my butt off for the last one and a half years for these movies. Now finally the results are going to show. Really, I can’t pick one film and say I hope this one does well. I can’t be biased. They are all good movies.

With most actresses making a beeline for offbeat films these days, do you feel the pressure to attempt non-glamorous roles?

Just because you’re doing non-glamorous roles doesn’t mean you’re a better actor. Acting has nothing to do with doing glamorous or non-glamorous roles. I’d rather do a commercial film that the audience will appreciate than one that no one wants to see. At the end of the day, everyone wants a hit film. I believe in the magic of the box office.

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) After a fairy tale wedding and a busy and eventful year, Bollywood’s most talked about couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai took a break to celebrate their first wedding anniversary Sunday - away from the prying eyes of the media - in Miami. “Not that they planned so. It just happened,” said Amitabh Bachchan of the location. 

 Abhishek is shooting in Miami for ‘Dostana’. And Aishwarya is with him on their marriage anniversary headded.
While the two are enjoying their anniversary in Miami, Amitabh has chosen the day to unveil the first look of “Sarkar Raj”, which stars three Bachchans - Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya.

June 02, 2008, Following in the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan, star couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have acquired a luxury villa in Dubai.
At a “Residents Party” on Friday night in the 7-star Burj Al Arab hotel, Abhishek and Aishwarya were present as new owners of a villa in the Sanctuary Falls development and introduced to future neighbours by the property’s developers, Shaikh Holdings.

Although no details were divulged on the couple’s new home, which is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2010, Sanctuary Falls is a 96-villa double-gated community home, comprising five and six bedroom villas ranging from 5,600 to 10,600 square feet. According to the developers the price of the villas ranges from 15 million UAE Dirhams to 35 million UAE Dirhams.
 

“I don’t think we choose a place, I believe a place chooses you,” said Abhishek with a broad smile on being asked why Dubai. The couple looked relaxed despite a hectic past week, which included a visit to the Cannes Film Festival, a three-hour walk to Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple. They also displayed no signs of anxiety ahead of Sarkar Raj’s release next week, in which Aishwarya joins Abhishek and father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, on screen.

That has given an international edge to Ash’s star status, something she enjoyed even with the Miss World title.

All this has done the inevitable to Ash’s career graph. She has the major producers and directors chasing her for dates. Leading men in the industry send feelers to producers to cast them opposite her.
